What happens to Teddy at the end of Shutter Island?
Teddy’s real name is Andrew Laedis. Teddy had acted insane in the movie till the end and the reason behind it was that he wanted to reveal the true horrors of the surgical experiments being done on the criminally insane patients. His sole mission was to enter the lighthouse where all the horrifying secrets of the institution lie, where the surgeons carried their so called experiments on the intricate human mind. However, Teddy Daniels doesn’t want to be his alt
er ego, his other self – Andrew Laedis – because he (Teddy/Andrew) had murdered his wife who inturn had murdered their children. He didn’t want to be Andrew with those memories and wanted to have the surgery in the tower. He wanted to reset himself to Teddy instead.
